Get Your Goat

Get Your Goat is the debut release from the Trondheim-based jazz quartet of the same name. The album presents original compositions by trumpeter Øyvind Mathisen, written specifically for the band's drumless ensemble – a choice that gives the music an open, chamber music feel and plenty of room for detailed interplay.

With trumpet, tenor saxophone and bass clarinet, piano and double bass, a dynamic and transparent soundscape is created where complex arrangements meet driving swing. Inspired by the jazz tradition, but with a clear contemporary expression, the record balances precision and spontaneity – energetic, refined and exploratory Scandinavian jazz.
